You Are Not My Enemy

Scripted from the wrestling movement play of two young brothers, ages two and four, then read and distorted by our musician/collaborator, You Are Not My Enemy is highly physical, teetering back and forth between the emotional edges of love and hate, as we see in many young sibling relationships.  Yet, as the movement script is reshaped by adult dancers, the tumultuous physical relationship is transformed to something both sinister and passionate, suggesting the complexity of relationships in contemporary society. Created collaboratively with Crysta Caulkins-Clouse, Jane Hawley (directography), Brittany Padilla (sound and music).
